Manjeswaram MLA MC Kamaruddin has been granted bail in 148 cases in connection with the multi-crore fashion gold scam. He will be released today from Kannur Central Prison after three months.

On Wednesday, Hosdurg judicial first class granted Kamaruddin bail in the remaining six cases in which he has been booked. While granting permission, the court asked him to not enter the police station limits in which cases were registered against him. Further, the court directed him not to influence the probe and to report before the officials whenever required.

According to reports, nearly 155 cases have been registered against him based on the Fashion Gold scam, but the MLA’s arrest hasn’t been recorded in seven cases.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch’s investigation has come to a halt since the investigation officers were transferred ahead of the Assembly elections. However, to date, the police were not able to arrest TK Pookoya Thangal who is the first accused in many cases in relation to the scam.

After completing the procedures which included providing bonds at the Kasaragod Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in 13 cases, the MLA could come out of Kannur Central Prison by Thursday evening.
