Electoral roll bring CPM leader Kunjananthan back from dead for Kerala Assembly elections

The name of CPM leader PK Kunjananthan who died while serving his sentence in connection with the TP Chandrasekharan murder case is also there in the voter list of Kerala Assembly elections.

The complainant who lodge a case citing that the name of Kunjananthan was not removed from the voters' list, was informed that the field verification revealed that Kunjananthan was alive. Kunjananthan's name is still there on the voters' list of booth number 75 in the Kuthuparamba constituency.

In June 2020, senior CPM leader PK Kunjananthan died while undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. He, who was an area committee member of CPM in Panur, was the 13th accused in the sensational TP Chandrasekharan murder case. He was convicted on January 22, 2014, in the case.

Kunjananthan played a crucial role in widening CPM's roots in the Panur area in the Kannur district. He was elected to the area committee even before being convicted. Since 1980, Kunjananthan has been a CPM Panur area committee member. However, the party always claimed that Kunjananthan was not involved in the murder case.
