Recently, a seven-member gang brutally assaulted a 17-year-old student at Kalamassery. The incident came to light when visuals of the assault went viral on social media. The student was beaten for revealing the boys' drug usage to their families. Following the incident, the police had arrested seven people of which six were minors. Police let the minors off after summoning their parents to the station. However, one of the senior members of the gang, Akhil Varghese (19) was arrested and later released on bail.
