BJP workers stop 15 people from Tamil Nadu at Udumbanchole over double vote suspicion

When it comes to double vote allegations, Udumbanchole in Idukki has the highest number of such allegations. Following various complaints, security forces were deployed at the state border.

However, even after this, a group of 15 people arrived in a jeep this morning and they were stopped by BJP workers. They allege that those who came from Tamil Nadu had items like cotton and ink to wipe off the mark after casting their vote. The workers even shared a video of the group being stopped and checking on social media.

As the incident resulted in a clash, more police arrived and took everyone to the police station. The group that reached from Tamil Nadu claimed that they were on their to attend a funeral. However, police said that they will conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, in another incident, reportedly police had arrested seven persons who reached Kerala from Thevarampetta, another parallel road from Tamil Nadu to Kerala, this morning. It is suspected that they also came to cast double votes. UDF's Udumbanchola candidate EM Augusthy had approached the Kerala High Court seeking action against the arrival of plantation workers from Tamil Nadu to cast their votes.
