Bineesh's drug case influenced decision to resign from CPM secretary post: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

Kodiyeri even added that Bineesh's drug case along with health problems forced him to resign from the party's secretary post

While interacting with a media organisation, former CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan made revelations about his resignation from the post. He revealed that he resigned as the allegations against his son, Bineesh Kodiyeri, would backfire the party in local body polls. The CPM leader said that now Bineesh is not an accused in the drug case.

Earlier, Bineesh was arrested by the central agencies in connection with a drug case in Bengaluru. However, Bineesh's name was not there when the probe agency submitted the charge sheet in the NCB court. Kodiyer even added that currently Bineesh is charged in a money laundering case.

Kodiyeri even added that Bineesh's drug case along with health problems forced him to resign from the party's secretary post. This is for the first time Kodiyeri was revealing reasons that actually lead to his resignation decision. Earlier, the party had said that Kodiyeri's resignation was due to health issues.

Meanwhile, reacting over the 'captain' row, Kodiyeri said that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is not playing any role as captain in CPM. He made this remark while attending the meet-the-press programme at Kannur Press Club. He said, "CPM considers CM as a comrade and not as captain. Some might call him captain, but neither the party nor any of the party publications address him so."
