In connection with the money laundering case, Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of CPI-M state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan remanded for another 14 days in judicial custody. He has been shifted to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) did not seek the extension of Bineesh’s custody. He was produced in the court via video conference.

On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is interrogating Abdul Latheef, Car palace company owner, considered as the benami of Bineesh Kodiyeri. Earlier, the ED had informed the court that Latheef is Bineesh’s benami in Thiruvananthapuram. Through Latheef, Bineesh handled the amount which he had gained through drug dealings.

The time allocated for Bineesh’s driver Anikuttan and S Arun to appear before the investigating agency ended on Wednesday. Later, Arun asked for ten days of leave, which was not granted. After obtaining hints that they will not appear, the ED initiated actions to take them into custody. Soon search for them will start. After getting them in custody, the ED will again take the custody of Bineesh Kodiyeri.

On Friday morning, Abdul Latheef appeared for interrogation at the ED headquarters in Bengaluru. Already ED has collected the evidence against Latheef.

Meantime, at the AMMA executive meet convened today, there were demands to oust Bineesh Kodiyeri from the organisation. However, MLAs Ganesh Kumar and Mukesh opposed the request. Many, including AMMA president Mohanlal, attended the meet.
