Noted industrialist MA Yusuff Ali underwent a spinal surgery. The surgery was performed a 25-member team from Germany led by renowned neuro surgeon Dr Amr El Shawarbi at the Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi. Lulu Group Communications director V Nanda Kumar announced that Yusuff is currently recovering from surgery.

On April 11, the helicopter Yusuff and his family were travelling in made an emergency landing at Panangad, Kochi, due to a technical snag. The chopper was later lifted using a crane to Nedumbassery airport in Kochi.

The UAE-based businessman flew back to UAE in a private aircraft provide by the UAE government. It is suspected that Yusuff could have sustained a spinal injury during the helicopter’s landing. The businessman who was recused from the helicopter had complained of a pain in his back then.

The Lulu Group chairman, who hails from Kerala, was recently awarded the highest civilian award by the Abu Dhabi government. The billionaire received the award in recognition to his contribution the Abu Dhabi commerce and industry sector and for his support to various humanitarian causes. Yusuff also recently ranked in the Forbes Billionaire list 2021 as the richest Indian in the Middle East also is billed as the most influential Indian in the Middle East.

Yusuff Ali's Abu Dhabi-based Lulu Group that owns Lulu Hypermarkets and shopping malls is one of the top retailers in the Middle East and North African region (MENA).
