An anti-Muslim board placed by the temple committee in a temple ground during the festive season has created controversy. The notice board placed in connection with the festival at Malliyottu Pallot Kavu temple in Kannur is receiving harsh criticism on social media.

Festivals in North Malabar are famous for their religious harmony. People gather at the temple ground irrespective of caste and religion. The board erected at the Malliyottu Pallot Kavu temple in Payyannur's Kunjimangalam is a stronghold of the Left.

Social media stresses that the board is insulting the Muslim community and passing communal discrimination to the next generation. Further, the social media posts claim that the board injects poison of religious hatred and the festival ground is a public place where everyone can come together. Some others claim that the incident is a sign that Sangh Parivar is gaining wide strength in Kerala, while some others on social media claim it is an attempt to promote communalism.

Reportedly, the majority of the temple committee members are CPM activists. Also, the temple committee reportedly said that the board has been placed for years.
