Kerala government has reported 8,516, with Ernakulam and Thrissur marking more than 1,000 cases and Kozhikode and Kollam reporting more than 900 cases. Around 879 cases’ source is unknown, while 7,473 cases are from local contact. This is also an increase from the 6,862 cases from yesterday. With 28 deaths and 67 health workers infected, the state had added 10 new hotspots in Kerala. The total deaths are at 1,587.
In the last 24 hours, the authorities tested 71,270 samples, taking the Test Positivity Rate to 11.94%. This is more than the 61,138 tests of yesterday. Meanwhile, the recoveries stand at 8,206 and the government has removed 24 hotspots. As of now, the total cases reach 4.59 lakh of which 84,995 are active.
