'System' failed: Rahul Gandhi slams Centre after PM Modi’s Mann ki Baat; says time to do Jan Ki Baat

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told listeners of his radio programme that the Centre is supporting the states in the fight against Covid-19

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has slammed the central government over the handling of the Covid-19. The senior Congress leader also took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann ki Baat” radio programme.

“System failed, so it’s important to do Jan ki Baat. In this crisis, the country needs responsible citizens. I request my Congress colleagues to leave all political work - just provide all help and ease the pain of our countrymen,” Rahul said.

Earlier, in the day, PM Modi told listeners of his radio programme that the Centre is supporting the states in the fight against Covid-19. “I'm speaking to you at a time when Covid-19 is testing our patience and capacity to bear the pain. Many of our loved ones left us untimely,” he said.

He said that the nation’s morale was high after successfully tackling the first Covid-19 wave, but added that the second wave has shaken the nation. “To tackle this wave of Covid-19, I have held meetings with experts from many fields like pharma industry, oxygen production etc.,” the PM said.

Modi also urged the public to seek Covid-19 information from reliable sources only. “I appeal to all to seek information on Covid-19 through reliable sources only,” he said.

The Prime Minister also urged the public to not fall for rumours related to the Covid vaccine. He also said that the Centre has sent free vaccination to the state. “All above 45 years of age can benefit from this. From May 1st, vaccines will be available for every person above 18 years,” he added.
