On Wednesday, Kerala reported 6,491 new Covid-19 cases. In a press statement by Health Minister KK Shailaja, the state has collected 66,042 samples in the last 24 hours. Currently, Kerala has 65,106 active Covid-19 cases.
Out of 6,491 cases, 5,669 persons were infected through contact, 95 infected persons came from outside the state. However, the source of infection for 663 cases is still unknown.
Kerala also reported 5,770 recoveries, taking the recovery toll to 5,11,008. However, the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha confirmed that there were 26 casualties, taking the state’s death toll to 2,171. The test positivity rate of Kerala is 9.83%.
