On Thursday, Kerala reported 5,722 new Covid-19 cases. In a press statement by Health Minister KK Shailaja, the state has collected 67,017 samples in the last 24 hours. Currently, Kerala has 68,229 active Covid-19 cases.
Out of 5,722 cases, 4,904 persons were infected through contact, 117 persons came from outside the state. However, the source of infection for 643 cases is still unknown.
Kerala also reported 6,860 recoveries, taking the recovery toll to 4,75,320. However, the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha confirmed that there were 26 casualties, taking the state’s death toll to 1,969. The test positivity rate of Kerala decreases to 8.54%.
