On Saturday, Kerala reported 5,848 new Covid-19 cases. In a press statement by Health Minister KK Shailaja, the state has collected 60,503 samples in the last 24 hours. Currently, Kerala has 61,393 active Covid-19 cases.
Out of 5,848 cases, 5,137 persons were infected through contact, 53 infected persons came from outside the state. However, the source of infection for 613 cases is still unknown.
Kerala also reported 5,820 recoveries, taking the recovery toll to 5,67,694. However, the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha confirmed that there were 32 casualties, taking the state’s death toll to 2,390. The test positivity rate of Kerala is 9.67%.
