On Friday, Kerala reported 5,718 new Covid-19 cases. In a press statement by Health Minister KK Shailaja, the state has collected 57,456 samples in the last 24 hours. Currently, Kerala has 61,401 active Covid-19 cases.
Out of 5,718 cases, 4,991 persons were infected through contact, 95 infected persons came from outside the state. However, the source of infection for 572 cases is still unknown.
Kerala also reported 5,496 recoveries, taking the recovery toll to 5,61,874. However, the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha confirmed that there were 29 casualties, taking the state’s death toll to 2,358. The test positivity rate of Kerala is 9.55%.
