Kerala reported 5,032 new Covid-19 cases and 4,735 recoveries on Tuesday

Kerala reported 5,032 new Covid-19 cases and 4,735 recoveries on Tuesday

On Tuesday, Kerala reported 5,032 new Covid-19 cases. In a press statement by Health Minister KK Shailaja, the state has collected 60,521 samples in the last 24 hours. Currently, Kerala has 59,732 active Covid-19 cases.

Out of 5,032 cases, 4,380 persons were infected through contact, 98 infected persons came from outside the state. However, the source of infection for 517 cases is still unknown.

Kerala also reported 4,735 recoveries, taking the recovery toll to 5,82,351. However, the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha confirmed that there were 31 casualties, taking the state’s death toll to 2,472. The test positivity rate of Kerala is 8.31%.

Kottayam leads the count with 695 cases, followed by Malappuram with 694 cases, Thrissur with 625 cases and Ernakulam with 528 cases. Meanwhile, Idukki has recorded the least number of cases (73 cases), followed by Kasaragod with 79 cases.
