Kerala records 4,287 new cases and 7,101 recoveries

Tests have decreased and yet there is no proportional decrease in the number of cases

Kerala reported 4,287 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said 3,711 patients contracted the disease through contact. Among them, the virus source of 471 remains unknown. 7,101 recoveries were also reported, meanwhile 35,141 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. This is lower than the 48,212 tests conducted yesterday. The death toll now stands at 1,352. Malappuram recorded 853 cases, highest in the state, closely followed by the capital 513. Total active cases stands at 93,744 and the Test Positivity Rate is 12.20%.
