On Saturday, the state government reports 7,983 new Covid cases, while 7,330 people have recovered. Two states — Ernakulam and Thrissur — reports more than 1,000 cases. The authorities have tested 59,999 samples in the last 24 hours, and the Test Positivity Rate stands at 13.13, which is a cause for concern since the number of samples tested increased from yesterday. This is at a time when the national rates are coming down, and Kerala is becoming a major contributor to the total active cases. The national recovery rate still stands above the 90% mark. Active cases stands at 91,190, with 7,049 cases having no or unknown sources. Around 27 deaths were reported taking the total to 1484. Another cause for concern is that 62 health workers have also been infected today.
