Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday evening. The 89-year-old senior Congress leader has mild symptoms and has been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

According to reports, Singh had to be hospitalised due to old age and co-morbidities. He had undergone bypass surgery in 2009. Reportedly, doctors have said that the former Prime Minister’s health condition is stable. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi his best wishes to Singh.

On Sunday, the senior Congress leader wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with suggestions for considerations ‘in a spirit of constructive cooperation’. However, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan mocked the letter and alleged that Congress-ruled states were playing with the lives of the public by spreading doubts on the efficiency of the vaccines. Netizens, however, slammed the Union Health Minister for showing disrespect to the former Prime Minister. Some have also asked the Union Health Minister to resign.
