India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has decided not to manufacture its SUV, Vitara Brezza at the Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka.

According to reports, Maruti Suzuki India’s Board has agreed that in place of Vitara Brezza, another car will be manufactured at the plant. However, Maruti did not reveal which car will be manufactured. Last year, the board had announced that the production of Brezza was to commence from 2022 at the Bidadi plant.

Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Corporation started a worldwide collaboration back in 2016. The companies have traded cars and are working together on various projects. In India, Maruti gave Brezza and Baleno to Toyota. In return, Toyota gave the Corolla to Maruti in 2017. Toyota rebranded Baleno as Glanza and Vitara Brezza as Urban Cruiser. Toyota added a few features and additional designs to these cars.

Meanwhile, the management at the Bidadi plant has suspended work for the time being as the plant workers are on strike after the company suspended an employee for alleged breach of discipline last month.
