West Bengal Assembly elections: BJP gives tough fight to Trinamool Congress as former closing on gap

West Bengal is witnessing a tight contest between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Just before 10 am, the TMC is leading in 130 seats and the BJP is leading in 116 seats. The Left is leading in just three seats

Counting of ballots began at 8 am and early trends showed that the BJP was leading in 44 seats, but things changed quickly and the TMC is pulling forward. The BJP is giving a tight fight against TMC. However, the contest to look out for is Nandigram as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is taking on her former aide Suvendu Adhikari.

Meanwhile, the passing of few election candidates due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic will also be taken into account.
