Kerala Medical students, whose dance to Rasputin went viral on social media, accused of Love Jihad

A few days ago, a video of two Thrissur Medical College students dancing to the tunes of Boney M’s Rasputin went viral on the internet. The students — Janaki M Omkumar and Naveen K Razak — stole the internet’s heart with their swift, stylish grooves, moving to the fast tunes. However, all is not well on social media — not surprising — as some have a different take on the dance.

Krishna Raj, who could be a lawyer, judging from his profile picture, believes that there is something more “fishy” to the video than just a dance rendition. In his Facebook post, he wrote, “Janaki and Naveen. The video of two Thrissur Medical College students is going viral. The students are Janaki M Omkumar and Naveen K Razak. Something smells fishy. Janaki’s parents should keep an eye on them. Nimisha’s mother proves that you don’t have to worry if you are careful. We can pray for Janaki’s father Omkumar and his wife.”

While he doesn’t directly mention love jihad, he alludes to it by mentioning Nimisha’s mother. Nimisha [now Fathima] was missing since 2016 and she was discovered amongst surrendered ISIS fighters in Afghanistan. Her mother Bindu Sampath had fought to get her back and had joined Hadiya’s father in forming a forum against Love Jihad.

However, his post didn’t go well with others and then some came to support him as well. Some said that he had a twisted mind to imagine two youngsters innocently dancing to a classic tune while others used sarcasm to take a hit at the post. Meanwhile, a few came in support of the post, saying that the postmaster dared to tell what was on everyone’s mind.

Anyway, here is the link to the original post with the two medicos dancing their heart out. Cheerios!
